STCW Personal Survival Techniques (PST) Refresher / Updating Training

The course includes approximately 4 hours of classroom training covering subjects such as:

• Emergency situations
• Evacuation
• Survival craft and rescue boats
• Personal lifesaving appliances
• Survival at sea
• Emergency radio equipment
• Helicopter assistance

The theory part is followed by a written exam.

The practical part of the course takes approximately 4 hours and is conducted in the swimming pool, where candidates practise abandon ship and survival-at-sea procedures. Some of the practical learning objectives include:

• Use a lifejacket and immersion suit
• Jump from a height into the water
• Swim while wearing a lifejacket
• Board a life raft and right an inverted liferaft

The practical exercises are subject to ongoing assessment by the instructor.

Entry Requirements: 

• Physical Fitness: 
  Candidates must be capable of participating in rigorous physical activity during the practical sessions.
• Medical or Health Declaration: 
  A valid medical certificate or completed health declaration is required to confirm fitness to participate in the practical training.
• Minimum Age Requirement: 
  Candidates must be at least 16 years old to enroll.
• ID or Passport: 
  A valid form of identification (ID or passport) is required for registration and certification.
• Basic Swimming Ability (recommended): 
  Basic swimming skills are recommended but not required for the Personal Survival Techniques (PST) module. Non-swimmers can also participate in the course. During the practical water exercises, candidates wear lifejackets and are supervised by the instructors at all times.
• Previous or Expired STCW Certificate:
  A previous, expiring or expired STCW PST or BST Certificate of Proficiency is not required for enrolment, as candidates attend the full Personal Survival Techniques (PST) module.

• STCW Certificates of Proficiency:
  Upon successful completion, candidates receive both a hard copy and a digital copy of the STCW Certificate of Proficiency in Personal Survival Techniques (PST).
• MOEI/FMA Accreditation:
  Our training institute is fully accredited by the Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure (MOEI) and the Federal Maritime Authority (FMA) of the U.A.E., ensuring compliance with the highest maritime training standards.
• Compliance with STCW 78, as amended:
  Our Personal Survival Techniques (PST) training is conducted in accordance with the applicable requirements of the STCW Convention and Code, as amended, including STCW Code A-VI/1-1.
• International Recognition:
  STCW is the internationally recognized standard for seafarer training and certification. Our U.A.E.-issued STCW Personal Survival Techniques (PST) Certificate of Proficiency supports candidates working on yachts, commercial vessels and cruise liners worldwide. Candidates should always verify acceptance and any additional requirements with their flag State, employer or relevant maritime authority.
• Course Validity:
  The STCW Personal Survival Techniques (PST) Certificate of Proficiency issued in the U.A.E. is valid for five years in accordance with U.A.E. maritime legislation. After expiry, refresher, updating or full-course requirements depend on the relevant flag State or maritime Administration.
